In the thirty years I have been involved with clay I have developed many skills that allow me to work across a broad range of processes. I tend to work in cycles, returning to and reworking some previous ideas.
My work is primarily devoted to ceramic sculpture. I work in series with both figurative and multimedia sculptures. The figurative sculptures are usually taken from life experiences and are satirical social commentary on a range of issues. My work has a tendency to the whimsical and humorous.
In between creating sculptural works I design smaller hand built and thrown forms suitable for interior decoration.
I have taught ceramics for many years including at University and TAFE level as well as children’s and private adult classes.
I began my studies at TAFE in the 1970s before setting up a small studio. I went on to further studies at The University of Newcastle in the late 1980s where I gained a Bachelor of Visual Arts, Department of Education Degree and a Masters of Fine Art Degree.
